With the iPhone we can get the coordinates of our current location. Knowing those coordinates we can locate exactly our position in a map. Sure?. Problem is each area in the world uses a different reference system (Datum). CoordTrans helps you with the task of converting among the universal system used in the iPhone (WGs84) and other reference systems used all over the world (more than 100 Datums and more than 100 projections).

Main Features:

* Conversion to Degree – Minutes and Degree – Minutes – Seconds format
* Conversion to UTM and more than 100 other projections format
* Shift to more than 100 Datums (NAD 27, European 1950, NAD 83, Australian Geocentric, WGS 72 …)
* Shows your current location in Google Maps
* Localization into several languages (English, Spanish, Polish, Estonian…)

Misleading
This app wont let you INPUT coordinates to convert them between formats, it ONLY CONVERTS YOUR CURRENT LOCATION, and figuring out how to change the map datum is a little mysterious (click on the the circle with the arrows and then tap the small datum type above the lower converted coordinate). Also if you change map datums (say from WGS84 to NAD27) and then click the icon that brings up google maps it will show the wrong location as Google maps is in WGS84 not NAD27 (I guess that could be usefull for fullfilling intellectual curiosity about the importance of knowing the map datum, but I digress.). This app has a lot of potential and I really like that it can convert between datums, but the app needs a link to an online help, and until it will let a person input coordinates manually I will keep the rating low.
Scary Accurate
CoordTrans is the most accurate geocode program out there. In fact its Scary Accurate.
Worst app ever
This app does not work, will not stay active on iPhone 3G.
CoordTrans
Seems like a simple to use converter, but I could not get it to work properly. It changes from E long no matter how I entered the value, an E or W switch like is supposed to work on the projection data screen would be good. The projection coordinates stayed "S" no matter which was highlighted. Every time you edit it erases your previous data. If you accidentally press the google icon it takes you to google maps with no way to return. Not a user friendly app
